Sunny beach resort( Bulgarian: Слънчев бряг, German: Sonnenstrand, Russian: Солнечный берег, Dutch: Zonnestrand) is situated on the coast of a bay and is 35 km northeast of Bourgas and 100 km south of Varna. The forest which surrounds the resort and the breeze make the days and the nights notably fresh and pleasant. The beautiful sand - dunes on the beach that is 6 km long and over 100 m wide, lend it a marvelous charm. Sunny beach is the biggest world - famous Bulgarian resort. Its construction began in 1958, today it offers more than 200 hotels. All of them are modern and renovated. There are also 130 restaurants and numerous live music bars, pubs, nightclubs, discos, cafes. It has been undergoing continuous expansion for many years. In recent years almost the whole hotel base has been renovated and several new luxurious hotels have been built as well as many spectacular apartment complexes.

Sunny Beach has a very small permanent population, but during the summer the resort is home to many thousands of tourists.
